Terms & Conditions

Last Updated: 12 July 2025  ·  Effective Date: 12 July 2025

These Terms and Conditions govern enrolment in and use of the tracks and related materials provided by Synapt Works. Please read them before enrolling. If you have questions, contact us at [email protected].

1. Definitions

  • Agreement: these Terms and Conditions together with the track specification accepted at the time of enrolment.
  • We / Us / Our: Synapt Works, Jalan Padungan 47, 93100 Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.
  • Learner / You: the individual who enrols in a track.
  • Track: a structured educational programme offered by Synapt Works, as described on the Solutions page.
  • Content: recorded material, exercises, written feedback, live session recordings and related materials made available during a track.
  • Completion Record: the document issued at the end of a track describing what was covered and, where applicable, the capstone project and its measured behaviour.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By submitting an enrolment and completing payment, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age, have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, do not enrol.

3. Service Description

Synapt Works provides online vocational education in artificial intelligence development through three tracks: Signal Basics, Instrumented Modelling, and Deployment & Reliability. Each track is described in a written specification that forms part of this Agreement.

Tracks are delivered online. Live sessions are conducted in Malaysian time (MYT). Recordings of live sessions are made available to enrolled learners. The school is based in Malaysia and accepts learners from all locations, subject to the restrictions noted in the track specification.

What Synapt Works does not provide

We do not arrange employment, contact hiring organisations on behalf of learners, issue accredited qualifications, or make representations about salary or career outcomes. Our scope is vocational education. This is stated plainly in the track specifications and in these Terms.

4. Enrolment and Account

You must provide accurate personal information at enrolment. Access to track content is provided through a learner account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Access is personal and non-transferable; you may not share credentials with others.

Cohort size is capped to maintain the mentor ratio stated in the track specification. We reserve the right to defer your enrolment to a subsequent cohort if the current cohort is full at the time payment is received, and will notify you promptly if this occurs.

5. Learner Responsibilities

  • Complete work submitted as your own. Plagiarism or submission of another person's work as your own will result in removal from the track without refund.
  • Engage with live sessions and exercises in good faith.
  • Treat mentors and other learners with professional courtesy in all communications.
  • Not reproduce or redistribute track content, exercises or recorded sessions outside the learning environment.
  • Not share account access with other individuals.

6. Intellectual Property

All track content, exercises, recorded sessions and materials produced by Synapt Works remain the intellectual property of Synapt Works. You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use this content for the purpose of your own learning during and after the track.

Work you produce during the track — including project code, ablation reports and capstone systems — remains yours. By submitting work for review, you grant us a limited licence to reproduce that work for the purposes of providing feedback and for inclusion in your completion record.

7. Payment Terms

All fees are quoted in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) and are payable in full before the cohort start date. Payment methods accepted are confirmed at the time of enrolment. Fees for the three tracks are currently:

  • Signal Basics Track: RM 720
  • Instrumented Modelling Track: RM 2,640
  • Deployment & Reliability Track: RM 4,530

Refunds: A full refund is available if you withdraw before the first live session of your cohort. After the first live session has taken place, a partial refund proportional to the number of remaining weeks in the track (minus an administrative fee of RM 100) may be requested within 14 days of the session. No refund is available after 14 days of the first session. Refund requests must be submitted to [email protected].

8. Track-Specific Terms

Completion Records

A completion record is issued on satisfactory completion of all required exercises and, on the Deployment track, the four-week capstone observation period. The record describes what was covered; it does not constitute an accredited qualification.

Capstone Observation (Deployment Track)

The capstone system must remain accessible for monitoring during the four-week observation window. Disruption to the system during this period that is outside your control will be noted in the completion record.

Cloud and GPU Credits

Credits included with the Modelling and Deployment tracks are provided by third-party providers and are subject to their terms of use. Unused credits expire at the end of the track and are not refundable.

9. Disclaimers

Track content is provided for educational purposes. We do not represent that completing a track will result in employment, a salary increase, or any other specific personal or professional outcome. We do not provide legal, financial or professional advice of any kind.

Content is delivered on an "as is" basis and may be updated between cohorts. We will notify you of material changes to the content of your current cohort if they arise during delivery.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Malaysian law, our total liability to you in connection with a track is limited to the fee paid for that track. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages arising from your use of or inability to use the track or content.

We are not liable for failure to perform obligations where that failure results from circumstances outside our reasonable control, including but not limited to infrastructure failures by third-party cloud or video conferencing providers.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify Synapt Works against any claims, losses or costs arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of track content, or your violation of applicable law in connection with your participation in a track.

12. Termination

You may withdraw from a track at any time. Refund terms are set out in Section 7. We may terminate your access to a track if you breach these Terms, in particular if you share access credentials, submit others' work as your own, or engage in conduct that disrupts the learning environment for others. In such cases, no refund will be issued.

Sections 5, 6, 9, 10, 11 and 13 survive termination of this Agreement.

13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising from or in connection with these Terms shall first be referred to informal resolution by contacting us at [email protected]. If informal resolution fails within 30 days, either party may refer the dispute to the courts of Sarawak, Malaysia, which shall have exclusive jurisdiction.

Malaysian consumer protection legislation, including the Consumer Protection Act 1999 where applicable, continues to apply.

14. General Provisions

  • Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with the track specification, constitute the entire agreement between us in relation to your enrolment.
  • Severability: If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
  • No Waiver: Failure to enforce any provision at any time does not constitute a waiver of our right to enforce it in the future.
  • Assignment: You may not transfer your enrolment to another person. We may assign our rights and obligations under this Agreement to a successor entity with notice to you.
  • Notices: Notices from us will be sent to the email address provided at enrolment. Notices from you should be sent to [email protected].

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email to enrolled learners at least 14 days before the change takes effect. The updated Terms will also be published on this page with a revised date. Continued enrolment after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
